The film takes inspiration from the mythological Selkies of Irish folklore, who live as seals in the sea but\u00a0become humans on land.<br \/>\n<strong>Song of the Sea<\/strong>, directed by Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells) features the voices of Brendan Gleeson, Fionnula\u00a0Flanagan, David Rawle, Lisa Hannigan, Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny. Music is by composer Bruno Coulais and Irish\u00a0band K\u00edla, both of whom previously collaborated on The Secret of Kells<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.cartoonsaloon.ie\/work\/song-of-the-sea\/<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<h2>Criteria:<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<h3>Tips for Drawing:<\/h3>\n<p>Drawing is the core method of researching, investigating, developing and communicating ideas.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get lots of reference and save it to your Reference Folder<\/li>\n<li>Analyze the characters personality and construction<\/li>\n<li>Apply basic shape language to deconstruct the character.<\/li>\n<li>Apply emotional context to colour theory of the original character design<\/li>\n<li>Do not trace<\/li>\n<li>Apply Solid drawing techniques (perspective).<\/li>\n<li>Use grids, guidelines or rough forms to get the proportions right before you add details<\/li>\n<li>Keep the outlines light<\/li>\n<li>Have a good range of Tone and apply the needed elements of visual language<\/li>\n<li>Use mark-making to convey surface quality and texture1<\/li>\n<li>Include \/ omit detail as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Insert your own soul<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Task<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Due: February 28th<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Research &amp; Folder Set up:<\/h3>\n<p>It is recommended that students carry a sketch book with them and draw everyday. \u00a0Daily drawings must be dated, documented and\u00a0posted. Navigate to your First Name Last Name folder in the Document folder. Now create a <strong>Song of the Sea Activity folder<\/strong>, incise this folder create a<strong>reference folder<\/strong>and a <strong>Character Design<\/strong>Folder. <strong>ALWAYS<\/strong>name your digital files: \u00a0<strong>first_last_SongOfTheSea.psd<\/strong>and\u00a0export to post as <strong>first_last_SongOfTheSea.jpg<\/strong>on your Behance project.<\/p>\n<h3>Drawing &amp; Colour:<\/h3>\n<p>Students are to draw and colour the characters in their own style. Be aware of plot lines!
