\nOur Mental Health Project:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is the submission we need to create a STEM video for:
\nWHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PROBLEM FACED BY YOUR SCHOOL\u2019S COMMUNITY?<\/strong>
\nOne of the most difficult problems faced by our community is the insufficient access to mental health support, resources and solutions in our buildings\/classrooms. In the past we have created resources using Augmented Reality\u00a0applications to access mental health resources with tablets. By implementing technology we created a direct-line to meaningful mental health support, and encouraged students to take the first step toward seeking help. Unfortunately\u00a0we currently lack devices to access these resources.
\nHOW CAN STEM BE APPLIED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?<\/strong>
\nSTEM would allow us to establish a Mental Health Media Lab to create meaningful APPS and resources. This lab will provide a safe and welcoming environment for those who need help. In this lab individuals will be able to create\u00a0and access meaningful resources and public service announcements. These resources will be provided by national not-for-proft organizations and student-made resources. The lab will be set up to foster creation, research and\u00a0education. STEM resources, such as Smart TVs, cameras and tablets would be used to create Mental Health projects or research resources, apps and videos in a safe welcoming environment.
\nWHAT IS THE BIGGEST HURDLE YOUR STUDENTS FACE IN THE CLASSROOM THAT HINDERS THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT?<\/strong>
\nMental Illness indirectly affects us all at some time, and this is ever-present in our schools. When a student or staff member is affected by mental illness they disconnect from others, the school and the community. \u00a0By providing a safe\u00a0environment, individuals suffering from mental illness may be more likely to feel enabled to connect to the community and school. As a result, more students may stay in school and succeed in their education.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
