Well my story is one that has taken many twists and turns, although my one thing that has been consistent throughout my life is the love of story. I graduated from UBC with a major in English Literature and a minor in Psychology, the emphasis how stories affect the pyschology of the reader through allegories, metaphors and imagery.
Art has always been my passion and I would constantly be drawing and going back to paintings and sketches in my spare time, but never thought of it as a vocational possibility. Of course, I was wrong. Through my experience there is one thing that I can say for sure is that the voice that speaks to you when you are alone doing what you love, will continue to speak to you for the rest of your life if you are willing to listen. So I listened to that voice and enrolled at VFS for the Concept and Animation program. There I found like minded individuals who shared my love of art and storytelling and was surrounded by all the industry professionals.
There I found my voice to speak of things that are important to me and learn the visual language to express that through art. My emphasis is storytelling and illustration and I am in the works of writing/illustrating my first children’s book, while working as a TA at VFS.
