ABOUT

About our animation programs

The CREATE program is an Apple Distinguished School program which provides students with hands-on experiences and real-world opportunities through its offering of 24 courses in animation, game design, app development, augmented reality, virtual reality, virtual production, film production, motion graphics, and other digital media.  Sisler’s CREATE Animation program is an entertainment arts training program located at Sisler High School, Winnipeg School Division.

Founded in 2015, the CREATE Program provides high school and post-high students with educational and career pathways to the creative industries in Canada, and worldwide. Starting in grade 9, students in the CREATE Program will build foundational skills with hardware and software while using a wide range of creative toolsets. As students progress through the program, they specialize in a chosen creative field and apply their skills in project-based courses. The program culminates in post-high by providing portfolio development, studio training and certification

Sisler takes 1st & 2nd in THE 2023 24 hourS ANIMATION CONTEST

“There’s a high school [Sisler] that can be just as strong as a college, and that is a big deal,” said contest founder Aubry Mintz, a renowned animator who has worked for George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic.

Sisler’s CREATE Animation program is comprised of Motion Pictures & Interactive Digital Media vocational education pathways. Students can study film, animation, game design, graphic design, photography, digital media and more. By combining technical training from vocational and innovative educators with industry mentorship and internship opportunities, the CREATE program brings job-readiness into focus. Our connection to talented creatives and industry leaders gives our students an advantage not found in any other high school; mentorship and guidance from the people who live it every day – here in Manitoba and around the world. Sisler instructors were key in the development and writing of the provincial Interactive Digital Media and Motion Picture Arts vocational frameworks.

Academic excellence results in awards!  The top grade 9-12 students with the highest academic average per grade taking a Sisler Create course will receive a financial award ranging between $100-$1000 at the end of each semester thanks to the Walter & Maria Schroeder Foundation.

Anijams

Sisler’s AniJam hosts a day of learning for younger students from the division. For the ‘jams’ the CREATE program invites schools to bring students who might be interested in the creative industries for a day of creativity and learning. Throughout the day, CREATE students mentor their younger counterparts in learning how to plan and create an animation.
