A short film by Ritvick Mehra called ‘Lover Boy’s Little Dream’ screening at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival Film Market as part of Telefilm Canada’s ‘Not Short on Talent’ series.
Mehra graduated from Sisler High School’s CREATE program in 2017 and went on to study Film Production at Vancouver Film School. He has since worked as a Locations Scout for Manitoba Film & Music, and on various film productions helmed by Amblin, Universal Studios, 20th Century Fox and more. While working in the industry, he continued working on his own creative projects.
‘Lover Boy’s Little Dream’ was supported by the Harold Greenberg Fund – a national funding organization that supports the development of Canadian films. The rotoscoped animated short film was created with the help of many other CREATE grads and students. It is a romantic comedy inspired by Japanese animation styles and tropes about ‘Lover Boy’ and his journey to find the courage to confess his love to his long-time love interest Mimi.
“I am grateful to be given the opportunity to participate the Cannes Short Film Corner through my film,” said Mehra. “My team spent so much time, energy and love on this film and it makes me happy that it is being recognized by others. It would be a crime to not give a shout out to my family and mentors for their continued support – making the project possible in the first place.”
The Film Market or Marché du Film is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world. Projects are presented to international industry professionals – including marketers and distributors. Mehra’s film will be available privately to these professionals online.
