‘Grim Companion’, a short animated film created by Yam Jam Animations as part of Sisler CREATE’s Orange Tree Project, will screen at this year’s Calgary International Film Festival.
The short will screen as part of the festival’s Student Short Film series – which features work by post-secondary or recently graduated students.
Grim Companion was written and animated by students in Sisler CREATE’s post-high program as part of the Orange Tree Project – a mentorship initiative with Nickelodeon Community Efforts where students received direct mentorship from Nickelodeon animation artists.
The Calgary International Film Festival screening will mark the film’s festival premiere. Grim Companion will be eligible for the festival’s $1,000 Best Student Short Film Award.
The 2021 Calgary International Film Festival runs September 23 to October 3, 2021. In its 22nd year, CIFF is the largest film festival in Alberta and the sixth largest in Canada. Over the coure of the festival, over 200 films are screened from 40+ countries. This year the festival will consist of a hybrid of on-line and in-person screenings.
