The second instalment of the Orange Tree Project is officially underway!
For the second year in a row, student teams in the CREATE program will work under the mentorship of Nickelodoeon animation artists to craft short animated films.
The teams will meet with their mentors every month to gather feedback and input on the films. By spring, the students will have a completed film ready to submit to film festivals.
This year’s mentors from Nickelodeon are Crystal Kan, Kyle Marshall, Jermaine Jose and Jeffry Mazon. Mark Galez, a mentor from last year, will oversee the project.
This year, students will also learn how to conceptualize and pitch an animated series. Nickelodeon animation artists will mentor students in the creation of a series bible, pitch preparation and more.
Partners on this project also include WACOM (a technology company specializing in pen display and tablets for creative users) and Toon Boom Animation (creators of software for animation and storyboarding).
