ABOUT:
The purpose of this MOU is to continue to develop and grow a framework of cooperation between Vancouver Film School and Sisler High School, to create mutually beneficial collaborations, with an initial focus on developing and linking the Digital Media programs from Sisler High School with programs at Vancouver Film School (VFS) with a goal to expand to other Vancouver Film School undergraduate programs.
VFS HORIZON SCHOLARSHIP
Vancouver Film School has established One Horizon Scholarship to one student with a determined socio-economic need, and who meets the following criteria:
- Student must be accepted into a VFS program (or has applied),
- Student must apply for the scholarship,
- Student successfully completed a minimum of 8 courses from the Sisler Media Pathway,
- Student has established a proven level of excellence in the Grade 9-12 course pathway ,
- Sisler staff to select the successful candidate by discerning socio-economic need as well as aforementioned criteria.
The Horizon scholarship recipient will be awarded a 50% tuition reduction applied directly to the total VFS tuition in an academic year for the following programs:
- Acting Essentials
- Acting for Film & Television
- Sound Design for Visual Media
- Digital Design
- VFS Foundation Visual Art & Design
- Animation Concept Art
- Classical Animation
- Animation & Visual Effects
- Game Design
- Programming for Games, Web & Mobile
- Film Production Program

EXCELLENCE IN MEDIA ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP
Vancouver Film School has set up two Media Excellence Entrance Scholarships to two students who meet the following criteria:
- Student must be accepted (or has applied) into a VFS program before receiving scholarship,
- Student must apply for scholarship,
- Sisler staff to select the successful candidates,
- Student successfully completed a minimum of 8 courses from the Sisler Media Pathway,
- Student who has the highest average grade from the media courses from 9-12,
VFS Excellence in Media Entrance Scholarship: Vancouver Film School will offer two entrance scholarships to a Sisler students. The scholarship will be for the amount of $3000 applied directly to the VFS tuition for the successful student within the academic year period.
MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SISLER STUDENTS:
Sisler High School and VFS has established an educational media pathway scholarships applicable to the students entering Vancouver Film School media programs.
GRADE 9-12 MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SYSTEMS*
- Sisler and VFS to create an educational media pathway. Sisler High School course pathway applicable to the student’s preferred Vancouver Film School program. Merit Scholarship System applicable to students enrolled in Sisler courses.

Qualifying students must:
- successfully apply to VFS within one calendar year upon graduating from Sisler High School,
- be accepted into a VFS program,
Merit Entrance Scholarships: Vancouver Film School will offer entrance merit scholarships to Sisler students. These scholarships can range from $100 to $3,500 and are applied directly to the VFS tuition for successful students within the academic year period. VFS has discretion to modify scholarship values (e.g., increase scholarship amount) at any time.
- VFS EXCELLENCE IN MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP*

*NOTE: The Merit Scholarships and the Excellence in Media Scholarships are cumulative awards offered by VFS – a recipient of both the awards shall receive the additive/cumulative benefits of the scholarship amounts awarded.

* NOTE:
- The Horizon Scholarship is a stand-alone award – the 50% tuition reduction is exclusive and cannot be combined with the Excellence in Media or Merit Scholarships offered at VFS.
- The program start date for Horizon Scholarship recipients is subject to seat availability during the 6 or 3 term intake of the desired program.
- VFS Programming Scholarships
Student must be accepted into a VFS program by no later than the end of April to be considered for scholarships. Vancouver Film School has set up 2 Programming Scholarships for students who meet the following criteria:
- Student must be accepted (or has applied) to Programming for Games, Web and Mobile program within one calendar year of graduating from Sisler High School before receiving scholarship by the end of April 2017.
- Student must apply for scholarship (below).
- Sisler staff will consult with VFS Educational Administration and Admission in the awarding of the VFS Programming Scholarship each year.
VFS reserves the right to review and approve scholarship winners based on the mutually agreed upon criteria.
Student has enrolled and completed courses from 9-12 in the listed course pathway from section F of the MOU, (note: and/or satisfies the criteria determined by the scholarship selection committee).
Tuition reduction can be applied directly to the total VFS tuition in an academic year for the VFS Programming for Games, Web and Mobile program.
* NOTE:
The VFS Programming Scholarship is a cumulative award – and can be combined with the Merit-based Scholarship offered at VFS.
The VFS Programming Scholarship cannot be combined with an Excellence in Media or Horizon scholarship
The program start date for Scholarship recipients is subject to seat availability.
- Women in Technology Scholarship
Vancouver Film School has set up 2 Women in Tech Entrance Scholarship to a female student who meets the following criteria:
- Student must be accepted (or has applied) the relevant VFS program within one calendar year of graduating from Sisler High School before receiving scholarship,
- Student must apply for scholarship,
- Sisler staff to select the successful candidates,
- Sisler staff will consult with VFS Educational Administration and Admission in the awarding of the scholarships
- VFS reserves the right to review and approve scholarship winners based on the mutually agreed upon criteria.
Female Student who has the highest average grade from the courses from 9-12 in the listed course pathway from section F of the MOU, (note: and/or satisfies the criteria determined by the scholarship selection committee.)
Tuition reduction can be applied directly to the total VFS tuition in an academic year for the following programs:
- 3D Animation and Visual Effects – $4,000 Scholarship
- Game Design- $5,000 scholarship
- Programming for Games, Web and Mobile – $5,000 scholarship
- Digital Design – $5,000 scholarship
- Sound Design – $5,000 scholarship
The “VFS Women in Tech” Scholarships will be awarded by a Selection Committee, comprising of 2 faculty members from Sisler High School and 1 member from the VFS Admissions team. The Selection Committee will assess submissions based on students’ demonstrated academic excellence and future potential as a media professional. Sisler will consult with VFS Educational Administration and Admission in the awarding of the “VFS Women in Acting” Scholarships each year. VFS reserves the right to review and approve scholarship winners based on the mutually agreed upon criteria.
NOTE:
The Women in Tech Scholarship is a cumulative award and can be combined with the Merit-based Scholarships offered at VFS.
The Women in Tech Scholarship cannot be combined with an Excellence in Media or Horizon scholarship.
The program start date for Scholarship recipients is subject to seat availability during the 6 or 3 term intake of the desired program.
