OUR CONTENT

We put our money where our mouth is, telling our stories through film and games.
Electric Monk Media’s film projects favour obsessive characters that flourish as outsiders. Since we are comfortable with documentaries, we are pushing ourselves towards fiction. We benefit from an in-house marketing department that provides photography, graphic design, writing, web and social support, plus our connections with top freelancers and independent folks.
Electric Monk Media’s game projects aim to improve the relationship between humans and nature. As original Kickstarter backers of Oculus, we have created VR content for years, informed by academic research, and with expertise integrating custom hardware and controls. And above all else, we demo our work to the public, logging thousands of demos each year, to better understand what makes an inspiring VR experience.

THE PRIVATE LIVES OF WILD CREATURES

The Private Lives of Wild Creatures or Robert Taylor Was Not a Famous Man is a film about polar bears, great gray owls and following your passion for the outdoors. A pioneer of eco-tourism, Robert Taylor explored and guided and took photographs that have helped define our nation, shape public opinion, and capture imaginations.
The Private Lives of Wild Creatures premiered at the Gimli Film Festival in Q2 2016. Part biography and part natural history documentary, it explores the art and science of Canada’s Arctic, boreal and prairie regions.

PHANTOM OF THE FOREST

The badass of the boreal moves in silence, plunges headfirst into the snow, and kills seven times daily. You are a Great Gray Owl and to experience moments of peace and beauty, you must escape death’s door, you must find the devil is in the detail. Learn the rhythms of your surroundings and the phantom’s secrets, and survive the bitter cold by consuming voles, fighting adversity, and avoiding predators. These threats are real and the forest is unforgiving.
The Phantom of the Forest is a family game built in Unity for VR. We have received support for this project from the NRC – IRAP youth programs. We are working towards an indie release in Q2 2017 bolstered by a series of developer videos that are in-production.

MEN WITH BEARDS

Journey into the souls of countrymen to experience the triumph and heartbreak of a world-class beard. Delight in their daring stories, futuristic looks, and proud traditions. Men with Beards is a celebration of inner strength and personal growth. Man up.
Men with Beards is a feature-length documentary produced by Electric Monk Media and distributed by Devolver Digital Films of Austin, TX. After a successful Indiegogo campaign, the film was indie released with theatre screenings in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Oakland and Houston. With a focus on the digital market, sales to date are 15,000+ units thanks to a HumbleBundle release and launch on Steam.

DON’T WASTE A PRECIOUS MINUTE

The hunters in these woods share an unusual pursuit to satisfy their blood lust. Leanne and John find themselves caged and suffering a mindless cycle of sleeping, waking and darkness. A child-like stranger in an antlered leather mask delivers their food and ignores their cries for help. Given the chance to escape, John is forced to turn his back on Leanne and confront the unknown, where evil lurks and he is the trophy game.
Don’t Waste A Precious Minute is a short horror film produced by Electric Monk Media and written and directed by Marc Greene. It was filmed in the forest near Prawda, Manitoba and will be released in Q1 2017.
