About Jan Philip Cramer – Head of Animation at Digital Domain
Jan Philip Cramer is Digital Domain’s Head of Animation as well as one of the industry’s leading Animation Directors. He has garnered an impressive list of credits and accolades as Animation Director in his 14-year career, including winning a VES award for his work on the digital character Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War.”
As Head of Animation, Phil oversees the department, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in visual effects and animation. His methodology is to consistently refine the process which streamlines the overall pipeline, ultimately creating a more effective workflow. Phil has supervised animation on multiple blockbuster feature films including “Ender’s Game,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Deadpool”, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Avengers: Infinity War.” Additionally, Phil led animation on James Cameron’s “Avatar.”
Recently, Phil completed work as Animation Director on Marvel Studio’s hugely successful “Avengers: Endgame.” Phil is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Visual Effects Society. He holds a B.F.A. degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco which recognized him with an Emerging Artist & Outstanding Alumni Award. Phil is an integral part of Digital Domain’s global visual effects team and is based in Vancouver.

About Sisler’s Create Program
Sisler’s CREATE program is a new entertainment arts training program located at Sisler High School of the Winnipeg School Division. Founded in 2019, the CREATE Program (formerly known as Sisler IDM) provides high school and post-high students with an educational pathway to creative industries worldwide. Starting in grade 9, students in the CREATE Program will build foundational skills with hardware and software while using a wide range of creative toolsets. As students progress through the program they specialize in a chosen creative field and apply their skills in project-based courses. The program culminates in post-high by providing portfolio development, studio training and certification.
Sisler’s CREATE program is comprised of three educational pathways: Graphic Design (Industrial Arts), IDM – Interactive Digital Media (Vocational) and MPA – Motion Picture Arts (Vocational). By combining technical training from vocational and innovative educators with industry mentorship and internship opportunities, the CREATE program brings job-readiness into focus. Our connection to talented creatives and industry leaders gives our students an advantage not found in any other high school; mentorship and guidance from the people who live it every day… here in Manitoba. Sisler instructors were key in the development and writing of the provincial Interactive Digital Media and Motion Picture Arts vocational frameworks. On Monday November 18th, Sisler’s Create program will be presenting a talk with Jan Philip Cramer. Jan Philip Cramer is Digital Domain’s Head of Animation as well as one of the industry’s leading Animation Directors. He has garnered an impressive list of credits and accolades as Animation Director in his 14-year career, including “Ender’s Game,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Deadpool”, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Avatar”. He is also a VES award winner for his work on the digital character Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: End Game”.
The talk is scheduled to be in the Taras Korol Theatre from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. We ask all students who are attending to leave their slot C class at 1:15pm. Students are aware and responsible for any work missed.
