Troubleshooting a Wacom Cintiq

Fix 1

Check Physical Hardware and Pen Nib

  • Inspect the nib: A heavily worn or jammed pen nib can prevent the sensor from registering pressure or clicks. Pull the old nib out with a ring tool or tweezers and insert a fresh one. [123]
  • Clean the tip and screen: Remove any dust, dirt, or debris stuck around the pen tip or on the Cintiq screen surface. [1]
  • Check connections: Unplug all cables (USB, HDMI/DisplayPort/USB-C) from both the Cintiq and the computer, wait a few seconds, and plug them back in—ideally in a different USB port. [1]

Fix 2 – Go to Wacom Desktop Center

When logged in, click on the search bar or the Windows logo or Applications on MacOS on and search up “Wacom Desktop Center”.

From there, click to open the program.

On the left side, select Support, and then Driver Check on the right.

If the checker states it has found errors, click Restart driver and wait a few moments. If it states there are no problems, and you are encountering issues anyways, restart the driver just to be safe.

If you did not see any connected devices before this fix and the issue is now resolved, they should now appear under the section titled “My Devices”. This won’t include the pen, but generally if no devices connect or are recognized after a few moments, that may be a sign of a driver-related issue.
