Jamie Leduc

Department Head of the Create Animation & Film Programs

2D Animation Teacher

With more than 27 years of experience in animation, film, and game design, Jamie brings a passion for creativity, storytelling, and innovation to everything he does. As Department Head and co-founder of the CREATE program at Sisler High School, he is dedicated to helping students discover their potential and develop the skills, confidence, and industry connections needed to bring their ideas to life.

Under Jamie’s leadership, the CREATE program has become internationally recognized for preparing students for careers in animation, film, game design, and digital media. He is committed to creating authentic learning experiences that empower students to pursue their creative ambitions, whether through animated films, industry mentorships, internships, or entrepreneurial ventures.

Jamie’s contributions to education have been recognized with numerous honours, including awards from the Prime Minister of Canada, the Governor General of Canada, Adobe, Toon Boom Animation, and other leading organizations. Despite these achievements, his greatest reward remains seeing students grow as creators, collaborators, and storytellers.

He continues to explore new opportunities, partnerships, and emerging technologies that inspire creativity and open doors for the next generation of artists and innovators.

Chris Galvao

Create Program 2D Animation Teacher

With more than 16 years of experience inspiring and mentoring young creators, Chris brings a unique blend of creativity, energy, and industry passion to the classroom. As the lead instructor for the CREATE post-high animation program, he has spent the past two years helping emerging artists refine their skills, build their portfolios, and prepare for careers in the animation industry.

Specializing in Graphic Design and 2D animation, Chris is dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students can develop both their technical abilities and creative confidence. His approach combines industry-relevant training with encouragement, humour, and a genuine commitment to student success.

Outside of the classroom, Chris is an accomplished musician who performs with his band, bringing the same creativity and passion to the stage that he brings to teaching. Whether mentoring students through complex animation projects or sharing insights from his own creative pursuits, Chris inspires those around him to embrace new challenges, take creative risks, and continue growing as artists.

His enthusiasm for storytelling, animation, and artistic expression makes him an invaluable mentor and a driving force within the CREATE community.
